“Am I too old / too unfit / to inflexible to come to class?”

Our classes are suitable for adults (over 18 years old, unless described as a child-friendly class).  They are designed to cater for all levels of student, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our highly qualified, welcoming teachers offer modifications for poses so that each student can find their own maximum stretch. We encourage each student to listen to their body and never to push themselves too far. If you are in any doubt about your ability to participate in our classes, please seek the approval of your doctor before attending class.

“What are the different styles of Yoga classes that you teach?”

We run several styles of class at Hot Yoga Edinburgh, descriptions of the main styles can be found by clicking the page on the menu bar.

“Do you ever run a beginners class?”

Almost all of our classes are suitable for beginners as we offer modifications for poses so that each student can find their own maximum stretch.  For your first class we would recommend a Warm Yoga or Hot Yoga class.   We also run Beginners 5 week Courses regularly for those who would prefer to attend a course.  Keep an eye on our Facebook page events page for the date of the next Beginners Course. You can find a description of each class by clicking on the name of the class in our booking system. Power classes are more suited to those with some experience of Yoga.(booking).

“What should I wear to a class at your studio?”

Our studio is heated to approx. 28°C during the day and 37°C in the evening, with around 35-45% humidity so you will probably sweat quite a bit during class! Wear light, stretchy clothing and bare feet into the hot room. Many students bring a towel to place over their mat, and have another small towel to wipe away sweat if needed. We have mats and small towels available for hire at the studio (Rental charge: mats are free of charge, large towels rental £2.50 and small towels 50p).
*For Aerial Classes, please wear long shorts / leggings and a t-shirt with sleeves to protect the skin from friction and to keep the Aerial hammock clean.  Please avoid wearing jewellery to Aerial classes as it could catch on the hammock.

“How much water should I drink before / during class?”

We recommend that you drink plenty of water during the day before class and bring some water into the hot room with you. We encourage our students to drink whenever they need to during class.

“Do I have to book online or can I drop in to class?”

Drop Ins are welcome at our classes, provided we have spaces left, but we always recommend pre-booking your place to avoid disappointment.

“What does it mean if I am on a ‘Waitlist’ for a class?”

We operate a Waitlist system, so that if a class is fully booked, a small number of people can be added to a Waitlist. If someone cancels their place in the class, the first person on the Waitlist will be notified that a space has opened up for them in the class. If you have paid for a pass for the class and don’t get a place then you can use the class pass for a future class, or can contact us to request a refund.

“How early should I come to the studio before my class is due to start?”

Our doors are open 15 minutes before class starts.  Please try to arrive 10 mins before your class time to give you enough time to get changed and have a few minutes to relax in the hot room before the class starts, this is a great way to leave your busy day behind and calm the mind down before class. Your body and mind will thank you for it!

“Can I arrive a couple of minutes late for class?”

We start our classes on time, and we lock the front door during classes for security, so unfortunately we are unable to accept late-comers. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class to give yourself time to sign in and get ready, and enjoy a few minutes relaxing in the hot room before class.

“Do I have to pay in advance for my class or can I pay at the door?”

We accept card and cash payments at the studio, or you can pay online using our MindBody booking system (download MindBody Connect App to see our full schedule and book your place).

“Do you have shower facilities at the studio?”

Yes we have male and female changing rooms with showers, hairdryers and small lockers.

“Is there parking at the studio?”

Unfortunately due to our city centre location, there is no free parking at the studio. We are located on Ladyfield, a pedestrian lane, which is right next to the EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre). Ladyfield runs from Morrison Street to Conference Square. There is on-street metered parking on Gardeners Crescent, Canning Street and Rutland Square, and the Semple Street NCP underground carpark is very close by.  We recommend traveling by public transport where possible, we are close to most major bus routes (Lothian Road, Morrison Street and Shandwick Place) and we are approx 5 minutes walk from the Shandwick Place tram stop and about 7 mins walk from Haymarket Station.  There are bike racks located close to the studio on Conference Square.

Our teachers

Our teachers are all qualified with at least one 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate. They all share the same principle of doing no harm, to themselves or others. Each teacher brings their own unique experience and training to their classes.
